Frenectomy

Frenums are dense fibrous band of tissue that is part of normal oral anatomy.  Treatment is required when frenums impact other oral structure:

1. A wide frenum extended between the front teeth causes a space.

2. A short frenum under the tongue limits movement [tongue tied] which hinders normal development of the jaw, face and airway.

3. A frenum extending to close to the gum line can pull and cause gum recession.

Dr. Roberts is one of the hand full of Encinitas offices that own the CO2 laser for treating frenums. No scalpels, no sutures, no bleeding!
